It was revealed yesterday by The Verge that Facebook will be rebranding its company. Before we continue, this refers to the Facebook company, not the social media platform itself. This rebranding move is to help the company’s long-term goal of creating the “Metaverse”, an idea posed by Mark Zuckerberg. In Facebook’s recent blog post, he described this as:
“The metaverse has the potential to help unlock access to new creative, social, and economic opportunities. And Europeans will be shaping it right from the start.”
In light of his grand idea, he hired 10,000 employees in Europe to build the metaverse and create next-generation technology. Within the metaverse are Facebook, Instagram, WhatsApp, LiveRail, Threadsy, Onavo, and countless other companies and services the Facebook company has acquired over the years.
The new Facebook company name will likely be announced next week during the company’s Connect Conference on October 28th.
Now on to the good party… what will be the new name? Well, at this moment it is unclear. However, many Twitter users have weighed in on the subject. What do you think the new name will be? Let us know below!
