Think you’re using your phone too often, possibly to the point of addiction? Well, as always, Google is here to help! They just released five Google Digital Wellbeing Experiments to help people have better control over their phone use.
The first step to seeing if you have a cell phone addiction is knowing how many times you unlock your phone in a day. Unlock Clock is a simple wallpaper that displays the number of times you’ve opened your phone that day. Knowing this will help you face the truth that you may be using your phone too often.

Are you guilty of using certain apps for personal use while at work? Well, with Morph, you can set categories based on what you’re doing (Work, Exercising, Traveling, etc.). Within each category, you can set a time and/or place where it applies, and assign certain apps you can use. For example, you can set your Work category to apply at your office location, and include Gmail, Office, Slack, and other essential apps.

Notification after notification after notification. What if there was a way to reduce the daily phone notifications you get? Using Post Box, you can set how often you receive notifications (ex: three times a day). When it’s time, the app will show you all of the notifications you have received. If for some reason you need to immediately see them, you are able to do so. By reducing the need to check your phone alerts, you can focus more on the task at hand.

Ever hang out with your group and there’s that one person who’s constantly checking their phone? We Flip can help with that! This experimental app enables multiple people to check in as a group and flip the switch on their phones. This encourages your group to not use their phone while you are together. After you are done, you can see how many times someone may have used their cell phone. We Flip is especially useful for those who are having work meetings or parents looking to have some cell phone free family time.
Download We Flip from Google Play.
If you are addicted to your phone, challenge yourself by using Desert Island. Pick only the essential apps you must use, and try to go a day just using those apps. Can you survive using Desert Island?

These Google Digital Wellbeing Experimental Apps are sure to help anyone use their phone a little less, and focus more on what matters. All of the apps are available in Google Play.
Have an app idea of your own? Google encourages designers and developers to submit their own experiments.
